The Smallest Of Ice

Why do people harm the planet?

Drop their rubbish even though there’s a bin next to them?

Why can’t people listen?

This is a polar bear; I mean the polar bear who is trying to find food for her young.

Who is holding on desperately to the smallest of ice.

Who loses grip as the thin ice breaks underneath her, unable to hold her weight.

Now she swims ashore, slowly pulling herself up onto the ice with care.

Now her young are awake, peeking over at their mother.

Now she walks towards them, her walk slowed, and she looks ashamed.

I don’t know how to get everyone to help.

I do know if we all work together, we can make change.

Tell me, would you take part in saving our planet?
