I Want Silence

I want the silence of a mouse 

like the doll that sits at the end of the bed  

Or a ghost no one can argue with 

Just like the fish at the bottom of the sea 

The rocks that stay silent even if you shout 

 

I want a friend who never turns their back on me 

Like the swans who stay together for life 

Or the bees that work together to build a hive  

I just want to feel included 

 

I want no insecurities  

To be happy even if words are said 

Not to quit when things get difficult 

Like the clock that keeps ticking even if it’s told to stop 

 

I want freedom 

Like the birds with a large wingspan  

Or the butterflies that come and go throughout spring 

 

I want peace.
