why do people not care?
leaving pets on the road to become strays,
left to starve and struggle
why cant they be saved?
why cant all cats be saved?
this cat I mean
who was the best cat ever
the one who pounced to reach his toys
the one who would scratch on the door when he was hungry
who would lay in his bed glancing at me with his emerald eyes
who would sit silently licking his paws
now he’s trying to escape from my arms
now his claw is stuck in my jumper
now he escapes from my arms
I don’t know how he was so cute
I so know he was the best cat
