P6 have been studying migration and the journey of the osprey in particular.  Our wonderful pictures show the ospreys arriving to spend the winter in West Africa.

Primary 6 have been investigating symmetry through Art. Look at our wonderful pictures.

As part of our ‘Journey of the Osprey’ topic, Primary 6 researched the wingspan sizes of different birds. We then went outside and used our measuring and information handling skills to draw life-sized graphs of our results.

Primary 6 have been learning all about electricity . At Christmas,we used our knowledge of circuits and switches to create a model Rudolph with a nose that lights up.

Primary 6 have been reading ‘Sky Hawk’ by Gill Lewis.  Iona , one of the main characters, has a tree – house and this inspired us to make our own model tree-houses.

Primary 6 have been investigating air resistance . We have designed and made out own parachutes and we can’t wait to test them outside.

As part of their outdoor learning experiences, Primary 6 visited the Loch of the Lowes. They had a fantastic time learning all about the ospreys and migration  . They even created their own paper ospreys and tried to make them fly to Africa!

P6 took part in a camera trap project in partnership with The Loch of the Lowes. The children recorded footage of the wildlife that visited the butterfly garden in the school playground. They then used Windows Moviemaker to create a short wildlife film which was entered into a competition. The children are all keeping their fingers crossed that they come first and win their very own camera trap for the school.

Primary 6 had great fun laying their coins in the playground as part of the fundraising coin trail, organised by the HOST committee.

Primary 3 enjoyed listening to the story of ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by  Drew Daywalt. They  wrote letters to the crayons and to their owner, Duncan. Primary 6 then wrote letters of reply and sent them to P3.
