Green Screen magic!

Some staff have told us they feel a bit wary at the idea of doing green screen, thinking it will be a complex technical task that involves lots of effort for an admittedly great reward. Nothing could be further from the truth however- Green Screen by Do ink is an app that, within the space of three taps,  you can have your pupils reporting from every corner of the world or animating against spectacular backgrounds.

Apple Teacher

Apple Teacher is a free professional learning programme designed to support and celebrate educators using Apple products for teaching and learning. As an educator, you can build skills on iPad  that directly apply to activities with your students, earn recognition for the new things you learn, and be rewarded for the great work you do every day. You’ll be able to add the professional learning hours to your GTCS update and gain confidence in unleashing the creative potential built in to the iPad.

When you sign up for Apple Teacher, you’ll start a self‑paced journey through the Apple Teacher Learning Center and Multi-Touch starter guides for iPad.

The programme is open to all educators and is a great way for schools and education authorities to offer free professional learning that their staff can work through together. Whether you’re new to Apple products or have been using them for years, whether you have a single device or one for every student — Apple Teacher has the tools you need to use iPad to connect with all learners.

Perth & Kinross will be running a series of bootcamp sessions to get you started on the path to greatness. Check out the CPD page to find out when the next session is. Microsoft Scotland Education

Microsoft have launched a new Scottish Education page on their much lauded Education website which is full of the very best resources for educators. Learn how to develop your own skills in Office 365 and use the resources matched to the Scottish Curriculum.

You can add to your GTC update and CV using your badges and achievements in short online courses. More importantly, you’ll begin to see how the Office 365 tools in GLOW can transform your workflow, workload and develop meaningful and relevant skills for your pupils.

Mission to Mars – a unique iPad event

Spaces are available for this special event run by XMA, our iPad procurement partner, and iTeach, who deliver iPad training across Scotland.

This unique event will introduce you to using iPad creatively across subjects and acquaint you with drones,  sensors, 3D printers, coding and more.

Vodafone have been producing this excellent resource for parents and teachers. Full of invaluable advice and resources, this magazine answers the questions about how to navigate an ever changing digital landscape for both you and your child. For teachers, it gives an insight into the wide range of issues that exist around Digital Literacy and Citizenship.

YAKiT Kids – anything can have a pair of lips!

Here’s a starter video for a great little app, YAKiT Kids, which allows you to take any image – be it drawn, taken from the web or a picture you have taken, and add a mouth and then record some speech and watch the lips move in sync. So what you may cry? How could I use this in my classroom?
