3 minute App videos

Wanting to find out about different apps? Each 3 minute video will give you a quick sense of what the app does, looks and feels like with a brief description of it’s functionality.

Shadow Puppet EDU

Shadow Puppet EDU (Puppet EDU on the device) is a really simple way of putting together a narrated presentation. Simply select the images or the videos that you want to talk over and then start your narrations. You can add text even as you are talking as it will pause and allow you to enter the writing before starting up again. We’ve used it for persuasive writing and explainer/ “how to” videos with great success. A nice piece of evidence of learning that could be used at any age and stage. A recent one was a physics experiment with the film clip of he experiment being on of the slides.

Draw & Tell

This app allows you to create a drawing with paintbrushes, crayons and pencils, stickers and stencils and then allows you to record your voice talking about the picture. It could be used in 1 + 2 , encouraging health and wellbeing scenario or alternatively you could paint a picture to tell part of a story like the 3 little pigs and the  do a voice over for that scene.

You can save the drawings and share them with friends and family or add them to a book or maybe even use them with apps like YAKiT Kids.

YAKiT Kids

This allows you to take any image – be it drawn, taken from the web or a picture you have taken, and add a mouth and then record some speech and watch the lips move in sync.
Well, we’ve seen it being used with pictures from magazines or from museum trips taken of statues, pupils own drawings (monsters and all!!) Across all ages and stages there are creative uses for this, for pupils to demonstrate their learning in a different way.
