Just before the October holidays our pupils visited Perth Academy to experience the mobile planetarium provided by AERO SPACE Kinross. This was perfect timing as our P1-7 pupils had all been learning about space and our solar system as their topic in term 1.
The large 360o 3D Dome gave us a tour of the night sky and we learned about the different constellations and their links to ancient Greek and Roman mythology. We joined Apollo 11 and its crew as they blasted off from Earth and landed on the moon then learnt about the experiments Neil Armstong and Buzz Aldren conducted on the surface.
We also visited and explored the surface of mars and Jupiter’s moon Europa. Finally, we joined Tim Peak on his journey from Earth to the International Space Station in real time seeing what he would have seen on the day.
The pupils really enjoyed their immersive travels in space and let the dome knowing even more about our solar system and space flight.
