Viewlands Primary was built in 1942 and shares grounds with Perth Academy and Fairview School. The school itself is all on one level and has a large playground which has been developed over recent years to include a trim trail, scooter / bike pod, a quiet area, outdoor classroom and a wildlife garden.
Viewlands has a nursery class (morning and afternoon) and fourteen primary classes. We have a gym hall, an assembly hall & stage, an ICT suite, a GP room, a well-resourced Library, a Life Skills area and a variety of breakout spaces that are generally used for teaching smaller groups. We are also privileged to have a large central area in the school that houses our Library. It is an area the children can relax in, read a book or have some time out.
The school has a very good reputation within the community and the positive ethos of the school encourages high expectations, enthusiasm, hard work and a caring attitude towards others. We strive to ensure that all of our children achieve their potential in terms of personal, educational and social development within a balanced curriculum. We are very proud of our school and this is reflected in the very good behaviour of our pupils and in the quality of work displayed in classrooms and corridors.
Parents are welcome to visit the school and by arrangement speak to the Head Teacher or one of the Depute Head Teachers about their children’s education and well-being. We try to involve parents where possible through twice yearly Contact Evenings, open afternoons, class showcases, drama productions, craft afternoons and on many other occasions. Through help with sports, educational trips and topic related activities. The positive partnership that exists between parents and teachers is greatly assisted by an active Parent Council which represents the whole parent forum to which all parents belong.
The school has a written Quality and Standards report for session 2013 – 2014 and a School Improvement plan for session 2014 – 2015 based on its findings. Both of which are available on our website or by request from the school office. They highlight the successes of the past year and the plans for the present. They highlight clearly the developments of the school and how parents / pupils can get involved.
