Portmoak Primary chalked up another sporting success on Friday 4th May, as pupils from P6 and P7 from across the Kinross Cluster battled it out to be in the top 12 teams for the cluster orienteering championships. Being in the top 12 teams earns pupils a place at the Perth and Kinross event at Scone Palace on 15th May, where they will be up against top teams from across the authority.
Portmoak grabbed the top slot, with the ‘Fast and the Furious 3’ team coming in first. (Pictured – the winning team with their medals – Jamie, Lewis and Andrew. All P7, Portmoak).
The boys were congratulated by the event organisers for having one of the fastest times ever recorded at the annual event. They were followed by Fossoway Primary in 2nd and Arngask came 3rd.
The Wrinkly Rabbits, Banana Boys and Fashion Fans all came in the top 12 too, meaning that Portmoak will be taking an impressive 4 teams to the Scone event in a few weeks time.
Louise Gordon, Portmoak headteacher, said “I am so proud of our pupils for the hard work they put in practising for the event and the determination that they showed to be first on the day. We are delighted with the high standards of sportsmanship and excellent behaviour of all of our P6 and P7 pupils, who once again brought successful news back to the school. There were cheers ringing out across the playground as we heard the exciting news at lunch time! Well done everyone who took part.”
