This term the children will be making different toys.
This week they made a thaumatrope which is an optical illusion. The illusion makes you think the picture of the bird is in the cage.
In Art, P1/2 have been learning how to make a Viking shield and a sword.
When making the shield, they first used paper mache to make the boss before painting in the colours the Vikings would have used.
P6/7 helped them to make swords. They wrote their name in rune on the sword and were helped to wrap string around the handle to represent rope.
This week we had a big focus on Road Safety but we were involved on lots of different activities too.
P1/2 are just back from their fabulous time at the Transport Museum in Glasgow.
We started off with a tour with the Tram Man who guided us around the different trams showing us how they worked and how people had to board them and sit on them too. He also showed us their safety features with the help of Rhys who ended up being below one of them!
We then had a walk around the many exhibits before lunch.
After lunch we continued our tour, which included going on board the steam locomotives, in and out of the old style shops and aboard the Glen lee ship, where some of the children were put to work scrubbing the decks!
After our visit to the shop we had to go back home. A big thank you to Hazel and Mr Davidson who were our parent/grandparent helpers!
Here is a link to a song to help you learn the continents by heart.
