P1/2/3 had their first taste of forest schools this week.We learned how to keep safe in the forest, looked at different fungi and made little boats to see if they would float or not.

The next day we tested all the boats we had made to see if they would float. This is because the stream was too shallow up in the woods.
All week we learnt about symmetrical shapes and lines of symmetry.
We made *stain glass window” pictures of symmetrical minibeasts. Then we made symmetrical insects on the painter programme on the computer. We also went outside around the village, looking for symmetrical shapes in the real world.
Some of us also looked in catalogues and cut out symmetrical objects to make posters.

Braco Clock Tower-We even discussed the times that were needed to be truly symmetrical. We realised the clock figures didn’t make the face symmetrical.
We were out in the school garden and over in the park looking at different habitats of minibeasts. We were looking at which minibeasts are found in the air, under stones, on bark and in the soil. We found a lot of minibeasts including bees, earwigs, woodlice centipedes, slugs, snails, moths and flies.
Miss Lamb also brought in for us a Bug hotel which her partner had made for us! We will be able to keep checking on this to see what minibeasts use it as a home.
