Citizenship Day

On the 20th November,  p7 has a trip up to Perth High School for a Citizenship Day. They were divided into groups and mixed with other schools to complete activities to relating to  the rights of the child. Then they had lunch and talked to each other about what they did. The day was very exciting and they are all looking forward to going up to the High School in August!

Children in Need

On Wednesday 12th November, we will be involved in our Children in Need Day! This year’s theme is Superheroes so, children and staff are welcome to come to school dressed as a superhero or come dressed as they please. A donation towards the Children in Need charity would be appreciated. Over the course of the morning, each class will run a variety of fun activities relating to Children in Need and citizenship. Then, in the afternoon, we are hosting a Talent Show! We are also looking for donations for our Bake Sale from which children will have an opportunity to buy some delicious cakes.

We are looking forward to having a fun day in order to raise money for such an important cause!

Remembrance Assembly

Our assembly this week was dedicated to Remembrance Sunday and was led by Rebecca from the Black Watch Museum. She showed us a PowerPoint all about the Poppy Appeal and World War One. She also took a volunteer and dressed them in Black Watch uniform from WWI. Mrs Carruthers showed us a video of what the Poppy Appeal actually does and the people that it helps. Primary 7 have been selling poppies to the classes all week.

Halloween Disco

There was a spooky vibe taking over Moncreiffe Primary School last Thursday as we took part in our annual Halloween Discos. There’s was a huge mixture of different, creative costumes, everyone who came along took part in a number of games including “Dooking” for Apples and Corners. We were also impressed to see the huge effort that went into this year’s Pumpkin Competition and would like to say a huge congratulations to this year’s winners. Thank you to Friend of Moncreiffe for organising such a fantastic night.

House Points

We are happy to announce that our House Point system is up and running! Each child has been placed into one of four houses; Dragons, Knights, Jesters or Wizards. We even had a special Moncreiffe Primary Sorting Ceremony where our magic Sorting Hat helped to decide which houses our new primary ones were going to be in. Now that we have our houses, staff across the school will be looking to hand out points for lots of different reasons including being polite, trying our best and helping others. Our points will be counted at different times throughout the term and the house with the most points will be given a special treat! Watch this space!

P7 Nethybridge

Primary 7, alongside Mrs Keir & Mrs Ruse spent a fantastic but very busy week away at Nethybridge. During their trip they were given an opportunity to try out a wide variety of activities including orienteering, archery, climbing, abseiling and kayaking. The trip allowed them experience new adventures whilst promoting their teamwork and leadership skills.  One of the favourite activities was The Silver Maze where they were asked to solve a variety of challenging puzzles. Well done to all!
