About Us

Welcome to Fairview School,

Fairview School is the Authority’s Additional Support needs school for children and young people with severe and complex and enduring additional support needs. We cater for pupils with severe social communication difficulties including those on the autistic spectrum. Children and young people (aged 2½ – 18) are placed in the school by the Authority in collaboration with parents/carers. Children may access the nursery class prior to their third birthday as part of the home/school transition process. Under the Additional Support for Learning Act 2009, parents/carers have the right to make a placing request to the school which is considered by the placing panel,  taking account of the school’s capacity and the needs of the child/young person.

The school has been purpose built to provide excellent facilities for pupils and staff. It opened in March 2008. The school was inspected by Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Education (HMIe) in February 2009 and the nursery is inspected by the Care Inspectorate. The reports can be accessed through the links below or alternatively hard copies can be obtained from the school.

We liaise and work closely with our neighbouring schools as part of the development of the ethos of an inclusive campus. We continue to work hard to build our ethos and culture of mutual respect and understanding within our own community and the wider school community which enables us to provide appropriate and exciting learning experiences for the pupils who attend the school.
