BLACKFORD PRIMARY SCHOOL

Outdoor learning

Outdoor learning

We love to take the learning outside and try wherever possible, to enjoy our playground and local outdoor spaces.

Outdoor learning is an important part of our curriculum and supports our commitment to delivering rich, meaningful experiences for all learners. In line with Curriculum for Excellence, we use the outdoors to help children develop as confident, responsible and successful individuals through real‑world, hands‑on learning.

Guidance from Education Scotland highlights the value of regular time outdoors in building resilience, supporting wellbeing and deepening understanding across the curriculum. Our outdoor spaces, local environment and wider community provide powerful contexts for learning, encouraging curiosity, creativity and a strong connection to the natural world.
