Burns / Scots Verse Recitation Winners

Well done to all the pupils who learned their Burns or Scots Verse poems and songs. The judges had a difficult time choosing a winner and runner-up from each class. Thank you to former members of staff Mrs Robertson & Mrs Duthie and to Mr Brown & Mr McDonald, from Blackford Burns Club, who came into school to judge for us. Thanks also to Mr MacDonald who piped in the haggis for our school lunch.

P6/7 competition winners

P6/7 have been celebrating success in two recent art competitions. One of the Primary 7s won first prize winner in a competition run by the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust. The winning artwork will be on display at Perth Museum & Art Gallery. The prize comprised of £200 of art goodies for the winner and  a mini Highland Games for the whole class at the Hilton Dunkeld House Hotel. Something P6/7 can all look forward to in the spring next year.

One of our Primary 6 pupils won the Foundation Scotland Logo Competition. The competition, which was open to all members of the local community, was to design a logo for the Blackford Community Fund. All pupils who entered received a box of pencils, with the overall winner also receiving a Waterstone gift voucher.

Thank you!

A grand total of £787 was raised last term, from the sponsored walk and the commission from Christmas cards. This is fabulous and plans are already underway to buy additional books for the accelerated reading scheme. We will keep you updated on how the rest of the money is used.

Thank you to everyone who donated and ordered cards, we really appreciate your support. Thank you also for all the lovely donations for the Harvest Thanksgiving. These were taken to CATH (Churches Action for The Homeless) along with Blackford Parish Church’s donations. We have been asked to pass on the thanks of CATH for the donations.

Sponsored Walk

Thank you to all family and friends who joined us on Monday 7th for our sponsored walk. The children looked great in their Pirate and Princess outfits and enjoyed a well deserved choc ice on completion of the walk. (Thank you to the Senior Citizens Lunchtime group who’s donations paid for these lovely treats).  So far an amazing £598 has been raised for school funds – thank you so much to everyone who has supported our event. We will keep you updated with how the money will be spent.

Blackford’s Got Talent

A huge range of talent was on display at our end of year Talent Show. The judges had a very difficult time choosing the winners.

The joint winners were Becca and Abigail, Ava & Mia, with Aisling and her magic show coming a close 2nd.

Well done to everyone who took part, you should all be very proud of yourselves, it was a great mornings entertainment.
