Pancake Day

Website (1) Website (2)

On Tuesday 17th February, the pupils at Abernyte celebrated Shrove Tuesday with a traditional pancake bake.  Pupils worked co-operatively, learning hygiene, food safety and cooking skills, while also brushing up on their measuring of volume and mass.  After all the cooking, when they got to taste their hard work, everyone agreed that it was flippin’ great!

Christmas Lunch

On Thursday 4th December, pupils and staff gathered together to celebrate at the annual school Christmas lunch.

Pupils wore Christmas crowns which they had cut out and decorated themselves, while enjoying a traditional dinner of turkey, sausages wrapped in bacon, roast potatoes and vegetables, all accompanied by the lights of the Christmas tree that the pupils had decorated.

The countdown has officially begun…..

Halloween Party

On Friday 31st October, P1-7 pupils held their annual Halloween party, organised and run by P6-7.

Joshua (P7) reports:

“At the Halloween party there were lots of fun activities and there were prizes for each of the games. There were four games and here were some of them: Pancake Game, Pin the nose on the pumpkin, dunking for apples and the balloon game. The pancake game is when there is this pancake is on a line and you need to jump up to try and get the pancake. The balloon game is when you have a balloon around your ankles and you have to try and pop each other’s balloon.”

Easter Service – An Invitation

Come along to our School Easter Service at Abernyte Church on Friday 4th of April at 2pm!

This year, in addition to the service, an exhibition of some of the children’s work will be on display.

All parents, family/friends and members of the community are welcome to attend and join us in our celebrations.

Pancake Day

To celebrate Shrove Tuesday, the whole school got together to make pancakes!  Pupils worked in co-operative groups to make their pancakes, working on skills such as good listening, following instructions, measuring weight and volume, working safely, being hygienic and the perfect pancake toss!

After choosing a topping and consuming their tasty treat, the P4-7’s surveyed pupils to discover the favourite toppings and the data was used to create bar graphs or pie charts of pupils’ preferences.  Who knew Maths could be so scrumptious?!

Halloween Party

On Thursday 31st of October, pupils dressed up in their spooky best and had a Halloween Party, organised by the Primary 7 pupils.  The assorted witches, ghosts and ghouls played party games including Pin the Eye on the Zombie, Spooky Corners, Musical Zombies and various balloon games.  A healthy snack was provided and pupils brought in their entries for the Best Broomstick competition (congratulations to Lucy for winning that one!).

Easter Competition Winners

Well done to the two pupils shown here for winning the school Easter Egg competition!

Pupils were tasked with decorating an egg at home, with a little help from family members.  All entries this year were of a high standard, but the detail, precision and creativity of these two entries made them stand out to judges.

Congratulations on an egg-cellent entry!
