see below for new LiveBinders. \u00a0It has been &#8216;fun&#8217; trying to timetable classes into the library as a number of the subjects clash but with a bit of juggling and the use of the upper library we have managed to accommodate most.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Subject Links<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two new Livebinders linking to topics being researched have recently been created. \u00a0These can be found in the <a title=\"LibLinks\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/or\/stromnessacademylibrary\/liblinks\/\" target=\"_blank\">LibLinks<\/a> &#8211; <a title=\"Subject Links\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/or\/stromnessacademylibrary\/liblinks\/subject-links\/\" target=\"_blank\">Subject Links<\/a> section of the blog or directly, following the links below:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"World Religions\" href=\"http:\/\/www.livebinders.com\/play\/play?id=1895764\" target=\"_blank\">World Religions<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Japan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.livebinders.com\/play\/play?id=1895747\" target=\"_blank\">Japan<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Poetry Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Back in October, if you remember, we had National Poetry Day. \u00a0As part of that we ran a competition on the theme of &#8216;Light&#8217;. \u00a0There were over fifty entries which had to be read, long listed, short listed and even shorter shortlisted. \u00a0There was some really good work. \u00a0It has taken time to decide on winners but they have been decided upon and the winning entries are are now on display in the library. \u00a0They are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>1<sup>st<\/sup> L Hales; S<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">mith<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>World Book Day Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year the\u00a0inaugural <a title=\"WoBoD\" href=\"http:\/\/worldbookday.com\/wobod\/\" target=\"_blank\">World Book Day Award<\/a> was held. \u00a0Schools were asked to respond to the phrase\u00a0&#8216;Why we can&#8217;t live without books&#8217;. \u00a0Although not successful, the library did receive some free books from James Patterson, author of children&#8217;s&#8217; and young adult books. \u00a0\u00a0You can view the entry here:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/or\/public\/stromnessacademylibrary\/uploads\/sites\/654\/2015\/12\/WoBod-Entry-Stromness-Academy.pdf\">WoBod Entry Stromness Academy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The second WoBod was launched recently (much earlier than last session) so once again pupils were asked to contribute to this. \u00a0This time the question was &#8216;Where does your reading take you?&#8217; \u00a0Pupils responded by writing poems or other text, producing posters, a collage, a piece of origami and an advent calendar house where the windows opened to show various small pictures. \u00a0The best were collated into a Prezi presentation and forwarded to the award organisers. \u00a0This presentation isn&#8217;t yet available for general viewing and won&#8217;t be until judging and winners announcement on World Book Day next March. \u00a0Meanwhile, some of the work produced is on display in the library.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, December is here and we are on the count down to the end of term. \u00a0Not sure where the last few weeks have gone. \u00a0The library has been very busy with the usual run of English library periods and &hellip;
