Many 12 word short stories have been submitted for this competition, particularly from S1 and S2.\"Bone<\/a><\/p>\n

Here is the short list which will be judged by local author V. M. Whitworth <\/a>who wrote The Bone Thief<\/em>, a rather good and enthralling “historical thriller” set in Anglo Saxon times.<\/p>\n

Pupils<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

S1<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Santa coming. Jingle bells ring. Stars twinkling. Children counting down the hours.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Snowball fight after rain. Hit him in the face. Bet that hurt!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Splat! Right in the face. He is angry. I go and hide.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0I tiptoe gently across the frozen ice, snowflakes falling. CRACK! Very cold.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pecking at worms in the ground. BANG! On the table. Christmas dinner.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The snowman looks sadly at the sky as streams of light emerge.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

S2<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The snow was whiter; the tree was brighter, when Santa was real.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Black boots touch the snow. Door opens. Lock clicks. Swiflty quickly gone.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I bought my Christmas tree for a fiver on a Thursday night. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Rattle, bang, clunk, thud, pop, SMASH! Should not have shook that present.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Here he comes. Santa has my Dad\u2019s brown eyes… Wait a minute\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The snowball fight has consumed the playground sending the young kids scurrying.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

S4\/5\/6 <\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Shimmering star sent startled shaggy shepherds, surprised, seeing sweet smiling sleeping son.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Breaks into our house each year without keys. Santa Claus, housebreaker extraordinaire!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Smiling faces and having fun, winter\u2019s now here and it\u2019s only begun.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Star of Bethlehem will guide us all to a happier Christmas.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Star, magi followed, Shepherds, Angels heralded, Revealing Love, In manger, born<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sledging\u2026 wheeeee. Frost stings my face. Crashing\u2026 Arrgh! Snow up my nose.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Christmas at the palace. The Duchess retches, William winces; the world watches.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One horse town; open all hours. Jingle sleigh for sale. Snow down.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201c\u2018Twas a pair partridge, ye ken, hen? Lordy; milking it for gold!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Kings follow the star. Shepherds look in delight. A celebration is born. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Reins, clutched in smutty gloves, flick reindeer suddenly heavenwards.\u00a0 Black anthracite descends.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Shopping, cards, presents, decorating, concerts, cooking, parties, dancing, wrapping, cleaning. Knackered now.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Last Christmas I gave you my heart. Then I dropped down dead.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
