Librarian: Mrs Frances Sinclair BA[Hons], MCLIP

Mrs Sinclair, a Chartered Librarian, came to Stromness Academy in 1992 having completed an Honours Degree in Library & Information Skills at Robert Gordon Institute of Technology in Aberdeen (now RGU).
She is active in the school community, both professionally on curricular committees and on school trips and outdoor education.

She has professionally served on the School Library Association in Scotland committee (via email); and has served on the School Library Association Executive Committee (2005-2008 and 2009-2012) and CILIPS North Branch (video-conferencing).

In 2004 Mrs Sinclair was nominated for the first ever School Librarian of the Year Award given by the School Library Association. She was selected as one of five Honour list librarians from across the UK and was the only one representing Scotland. She received her honour certificate in March 2005.

In 2008 Mrs Sinclair was the Executive Editor of the School Library Association publication Riveting Reads: Fantasy Fiction. The book was launched in June 2008 at the SLA annual Weekend School at Strathclyde University, Glasgow. She has produced case studies and articles for School Library Association publications. She is currently part of the Media & Communications committee in the school, having taken the lead on designing the new school website as well as getting involved with other school working groups, and activities.
