The final term at school for this session is now underway, and we are hoping that the weather is kind to us so that we can be outside as much as possible!
Our philosophy for this term is based around the book “If the World were a village” and we will be discussing things like language, religion, food and wealth.
We will be continuing our health and wellbeing work around the Zones of Regulation, and will be working together with loose parts resources (hopefully outside). We also hope to do Bikeability and Play on Pedals this month.
Nursery
This month the Nursery children will be taking part in Play on Pedals during Bikeability week. We will still be spending lots of time in our outdoor spaces. This term we will be using the Care Inspectorate Wellbeing indicators to evaluate our practice. During May our focus will be on Being safe, Achieving and Being healthy.
P1 – 4
The P1 – 4 children are continuing to learn about plants in Science, and will be doing some more planting. In RME the children are learning about Islam. We are also learning more about the jobs that people do in our community, and hope to talk to people about their roles. In writing we will be writing letters, writing interview questions and taking notes and then writing reports about the jobs that people do. In music we will be looking at rhythm this term, as well as continuing to become more confident with keyboards. Technologies work will involve learning to make a range of simple mechanisms.
P5 – 7
In music this term the children are continuing with guitar and drumming, alongside strings lessons for some pupils. In keyboards they are starting to compose their own tunes, using correct musical notation. The P5-7 science topics this term will include learning about plants and practical investigations involving forces and motion. RME work this term will be about Christian beliefs and values. Art lessons include learning about the work of Henri Rousseau and producing a collaborative piece based on one of his paintings. The children have learnt how to make paper and have enjoyed experimenting with adding a variety of inclusions.
