{"id":159,"date":"2025-05-30T12:52:58","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T11:52:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/or\/sayoungreporter\/?p=159"},"modified":"2025-05-30T15:14:58","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T14:14:58","slug":"stromness-academy-youth-drama-team-ready-for-scottish-finals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/or\/sayoungreporter\/2025\/05\/30\/stromness-academy-youth-drama-team-ready-for-scottish-finals\/","title":{"rendered":"Stromness Academy youth drama team ready for Scottish Finals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"margin: 0cm;vertical-align: baseline\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">The sixteen members of the Stromness Academy Players prepare to travel to St Andrews to <\/span>compete in the S.C.D.A (Scottish Community Drama Association) finals. \u00a0The team have made their way past two fierce rounds of competition, once in Brechin and once here in the Orkney Theatre. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><span class=\"eop\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"margin: 0cm;vertical-align: baseline\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"margin: 0cm;vertical-align: baseline\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">The team has worked <\/span>incredibly hard on finding more ways their can improve and will continue doing so until the finals! \u00a0Orkney has shown loads of support to the club, especially <\/span>Stromness Drama Club, Birsay Drama Group, Barbara Grieve, SCDA Orkney, and NorthLink Ferries. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><span class=\"eop\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"margin: 0cm;vertical-align: baseline\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"margin: 0cm;vertical-align: baseline\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">Hannah Morrice, who does the lighting, said that using the equipment in different theatres \u201chas brought me new skills I did not know I had.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><span class=\"eop\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"margin: 0cm;vertical-align: baseline\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">Her favourite memory of the Brechin trip was \u201cwhen we were all at the park and a student was on the swing and jumped off \u2013 it was super funny!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><span class=\"eop\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"margin: 0cm;vertical-align: baseline\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"margin: 0cm;vertical-align: baseline\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">Cayla Paton, who does sound, said, \u201cI would say it was a good experience so far.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"margin: 0cm;vertical-align: baseline\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">In Brechin, they competed against two other clubs, one who performed a two-hander, and the other who were a bigger team.
