Dec 25 – SSEN/FREEDOM STEM Workshop
Feedback: Thank you again for welcoming us into your schools yesterday. We were very impressed with the behaviour of the students, both in cooperating with each other and politeness. When we discovered a piece was missing from one of the kits, I borrowed one from another team and one of the boys asked me which team so that he could go over and thank them personally. If one of the team members was struggling the other students would boost their morale and assist them without taking over their task. I haven’t experienced this at other schools before and there were many anecdotes like this from both Firth and Evie School when talking to my colleagues. The p7s at both schools engaged well with our careers chat, asking lots of questions. We had staff that had never visited Orkney before and overall this left such a warm positive impression of Orcadians!

Nov 25 – Liam McArthur MSP visitor
Feedback: What a fabulous visit. Please thank the pupils again for making me feel so welcome. I had a blast and was so impressed by the work and thought that they’ve put into studying parliament, elections and wider political engagement. And apologies for potentially landing you with a banana parliament!

PARTNERSHIPS
2025/26 – Keith Johnson / Steve Bond Met Office
Feedback: All went well and Evie School is now an official Met Office rain site. One of very few schools in country which participate.
Thank you all for your help and enthusiasm.

Steve Bond, who is an officer for the Met-Office, with our Weather Watchers and Keith Johnson.
