We used lots of skills in the Learning Zone today. We planned routes for the bee-bots, solved problems on the I-pad, created road safety messages and counted and measured lengths using hands and feet.

Maths
We will be learning more about tens and unit numbers eg 13 = 10 + 3, or 13 = 1 ten + 3, or
1 ten + 3 = 13 etc. Use objects for counting with (sweets, pasta etc) and count out amounts between 10 and 20. Make bundles of 10 (1 ten) and see how many are left (units). The children should see that, for example, 17 = 10 + 7. Allow them to record their answers in different ways (see above examples). When confident move on to numbers between 20 and 30. Continue to larger numbers if able.

Design the honey label competition
A competition will be running to design the packaging for a honey jar. You need to;
- make your label eye catching and clear.
- design a logo for our honey.
include a name for our honey farm, name for our honey and the date it was made.
There will be a winner from each house, plus an overall winner, which will be used for our actual honey jars in the summer.
The four winners will get 1,000, 750, 500 and 250 respectively. The overall winner will get 2000 house points.
The children’s entries need to have their name, class and house on it.
They can use the template provided or design their own – their choice.
