7.3.17

We were using the percussion instruments today to make rainforest animal music.  We chose the best instruments to make it sound like each animal and composed a piece in our group.  Then we performed it it to the rest of the class.  We made music for elephants, snakes and butterflies as well as lots of other animals.  What an super orchestra we had!

  • write the words in the air.

  • write the words in small and capital letters.

Reading

Look for this week’s spelling words in the story.

Practice your book every night. Ask and answer questions about the story to help understanding.

Maths

We will be working on halving numbers eg ½ of 10 = 5, ½ of 14 = 7 etc. Try making up sums where you half the numbers (even numbers up to 20). If able, try larger numbers and ask your child how they found the answer.

We will also be introducing a quarter of an object and looking at how a quarter is one part out of a possible four. (We will NOT be finding ¼ of a number). Try making a sandwich and cutting it into quarters. Eat ¼, how many quarters are left? Eat 2/4, how much is left (2 quarters or 1 half, which is the same).

2.2.17

Today we were learning to half and double numbers.  We did lots of different activities and games to help us with our learning.

In the afternoon we dramatised the story ‘Walking Through The Jungle’.   Can you guess what animals we were?
