In these photos our classmates were demonstrating their French conversations using basic greetings.
I am so pleased with the Viking longship collage pictures- don’t they look great?
Have a great weekend everyone!
It has been great being back together after the Easter Break and we have quickly got back into the swing of things!
Here we were looking at cards with statement on them and working out which are facts and which are opinions.
At the start of the week we got our new spelling walls for the term and some of us got a new reading book, so we were getting to know our texts. We have started formal multiplication and are making good progress in working accurately, once we know the multiplication facts.
We have been learning about some important events that happened in Scotland and have put these into a timeline and today we have been writing a diary extract as though we were Vikings travelling on a longship and going on a raid.
Our skill for hockey this week was how to get past an opponent and then we took part in short games where we were putting the skills into practice.
We are developing our hockey skills by thinking about our stance.
We were trying to get the ball from our partner and dribbling past a partner.
We are making progress with our Viking collage pictures – don’t they look great?
Have a fantastic Easter Break 🐣 and we have our Cool Class Cup treat to look forward to in the next term!
When we learn about a time in history, such as the Viking period, we put that time onto a timeline to discover where it comes in relation to other periods in history. We had a good discussion about the history that everyone was familiar with and then we used all the clues from the dates and the pictures to put the events into the correct order.
Here is a finished timeline.
Today in Number, we started to learn how to multiply using the grid method.
It involves partitioning numbers into tens and units, multiplying each part separately and then adding the results for the tens and units together to find the total answer. It is a little tricky until you get used to it and this is where practice is important! We will be practising more if this strategy next week.
We wrote the introduction to our Viking topic, explaining the facts that we have been learning about in our lessons so far.
This afternoon we were focusing on the Earth Hour assembly, looking at some of the important facts linked to protecting our planet and reducing our use of resources.
I will put up an Earth Hour assignment for us on Teams for us to share any photos of how you did your part to reduce the use of electricity for Earth Hour!
Have a great weekend everyone!
We started off the week discussing what we already knew about multiplication and then built up some times tables using the strategies that we had discussed.
These photos from our Tuesday P.E. lesson show that we are developing greater control over the ball when using the hockey stick and can dribble successfully through the cones without the ball running away from us!
Today in art, we were trying out different techniques and media ready to create the waves for our Viking collage pictures. We tried splatter painting and using salt and cling film to create different effects.
Well, it was a Red Nose Day with a difference, but we really enjoyed it. We were watching the Red Nose Assembly videos and thinking about the Rights that the money from Comic Relief helps people to achieve. The history behind Comic Relief is interesting too and we also watched some Newsround clips to understand how sharing a smile can do us good in these times. We shared some good jokes and enjoyed time back together.
In the afternoon we “Let our Hair Down” for Comic Relief by letting gravity do the painting!
Have a great weekend everyone and well done on a super first week back!!
This afternoon we learnt more about how the Vikings lived and we started a piece of artwork that will be completed in different stages. Today we chose either hot or cold colours to create a stripy sky using watercolour paints.
In the morning, we were learning how to uplevel our writing by choosing WOW vocabulary, suitable connectives and openers and punctuating our sentences correctly.
Today we got back into the swing of things with some spelling and reading comprehension. After that we practised adding with exchange and adding more than 2 numbers. We were making a Maths Masterpiece, so we knew if we had made a mistake!
This afternoon we started to learn some hockey skills: how to hold the stick, how to stand, how to trap and how to push the ball to a partner. We all did very well and some great skills were demonstrated!
