Here we all are after a busy session of Enterprise. We are showcasing one of the products that will be on sale at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday morning.
When Mrs Keith came to visit today, she was not her usual self! She was pretending to be very grumpy ( look at the photos) and she wanted us to tell her what was wrongness with the way she was speaking and behaving. We thought about communication skills and were able to explain that her body language, facial expressions and tone of voice were not demonstrating to us that she was her usual, cheery self!
When Mrs Keith felt better, we all went to the forest area to think about how we like the forest to look over the next few weeks. There were lots of ideas and we are going to be applying for jobs in order to transform our forest into a winter wonderland for our forest friends.
In HWB we were thinking about ways that we can solve problems if we are having niggles with our friends or others. There were some great ideas generated and the pupils realise that their HWB can be affected by the ways that people act with and react to one another.
Today we had the opportunity to look at the Viking models we had made for our presentations. We could look at the detail properly and ask our friends questions about their models.
This afternoon in ICT we all used our Activelearn accounts to practise maths skills that we have been developing.
We were treated to another excellent Viking model presentation today. The class has been reflecting on what the key skills are when communicating, and have been able to say what they did well in their presentations and what they think their next steps would be.
Well done everyone, I have been very impressed by your models and your presentation skills. Keep up the great attitude towards your learning!
Today we heard the presentations of more of our classmates. It is very interesting hearing about how the models have been made and any problems that were overcome.
This afternoon we started to learn about the skills needed in the World of Work. When we were putting together our bags of treats for Santa Paws, we were thinking about the skills needed to work well as a team to get the job finished properly.
Well done to our pupils who presented their Viking model information today. We were learning about the Communication skills of: eye contact, clear voice, body language and facial expression. Our pupils did very well in thinking about these skills during their presentations. I am looking forward to seeing the other models tomorrow.
Today we had the opportunity to plant some hazel tree saplings. As you can see, the ground was still quite frosty so we had to make a T shape in the ground and then lift the two sections of earth before slotting in the sapling roots. Then we could stamp down the earth around the young tree to give it a chance to stay upright.
After that we learnt about a search engine called Ecosia. There is information about it on the school’s Eco blog, and we are trying to use it at school and at home,  as part of the site’s policy is to plant trees. Please pass on the information to others as this is a really great and easy idea for us all to be able to do our bit for the environment.
Just a reminder that you need to have strong outdoor shoes ( wellies) and warm jackets with you tomorrow as we will be helping to plant new saplings after registration.
For Remembrance Day we created art using different skills and media. First of all we had to create a stencil- which was fiddly, then used sponge printing to create the poppy effect. Finally, we added chalk strokes to create the grass.
Today we were thinking about why certain words are effective and why they affect us in different ways. First of all we looked at four short Halloween poems and highlighted words that we thought were effective. Then we came together in groups and used the Thinking routine of Chalk Talk to add our ideas about different words and links that we can make. There was a lot of discussion and exploration of different themes and ideas.
In ICT some pupils chose to create a wordsearch with Bonfire and Firework onomatopoeic words and other created PowerPoints to explain how to stay safe on Bonfire Night.
