This afternoon we were joined by Alastair from Clyde football who was showing us how to improve our skills in trapping and passing the football. We had a try at shooting and goalkeeping before trying out our skills in some mini games.

It has been another busy week in Primary 4.
We were exploring non-fiction text features, finding out what each feature is for, and then found some features in non-fiction texts.
We discovered that gold is not magnetic. This gold ring was not attracted to the magnet.
Here, it took the force of 4 magnets to hold up this desk tidy.
On Wednesday we had a visit from the SSPCA. Alec was telling us about how injured birds and wild animals are cared for and then released back into the wild. There was a video presentation, then a quiz and at the end we played Snakes and Ladders, but before going up a ladder or down a snake you had to answer a true or false question about animals- it was great fun!
On Thursday we wrote recounts of the SSPCA visit.
Today in PE we were applying our throwing, catching and shooting skills in our first introduction to netball.
Have a great weekend!
Power Point animations
This morning Primary 4 were learning to use PowerPoint. They copied a ghost image from the internet and pasted the image onto a PP slide. They then used the duplicate slide tool and moved and rotated their character each time to animate their spooky story.
Homework reminder and ongoing learning
Just a reminder that if you have completed sections of your Reading Challenge, then please bring them in to show me. If you need any resources, then I can help with supplying those, too!
If you have borrowed a book from the class library and you want to swap it for another one, then just let me know.
You have your weekly spelling wall rows to practise at home.
There are Activelearn and Sumdog activities allocated for everyone.
As part of our learning about aspects of science, we are now focusing on Magnetism. Here are some sites that will support our learning:

Here are some sites which link to our learning about compass directions

We had a great day, learning about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths activities. For our learning about science, we were exploring Magnetism. We learned that Magnetism is a force and it can attract or repel different materials.
We all experienced the force when we tried to put two of the same poles together! When different poles are put together they attract and join together.
Take a look at the blogs of the classes that the children went to, to see photos of all the different activities .
Have a happy and safe “October Week” holiday everyone!

This week we have been having fun learning about magnetism. Here we are feeling the attract and repel forces that magnets have depending on which magnetic pole is next to which.
Here we were exploring the power of the magnet through the glass and the water.
In maths we learnt some of the main compass points and we learnt in science that the compass will show magnetic north, so we can then find the other directions.
We made some pathways using paces and compass points.
On our daily mile we looked at the compass to check which direction we were walking in!
ICT- using the home row
Today Primary 4 are learning to type words using only the home row on the keyboard. They are practising using all of their fingers and getting their hands n the correct typing position. Fantastic fours with great focus and concentration.

Here we are sitting in Book Camp thinking of ideas about our setting. We were using our senses to think about what we might see, hear, smell, touch and taste in this setting. Looking up, we can see the stars through the tree branches and we can feel the heat from the fire. What might happen if the fire went out?

Just a reminder that the school photographer is in school tomorrow, so bright- eyed and smiley, please.
