The last two full days of primary 4 have been Harry Pottertastic!!!

We have been making our own wands, designing our own potions, and sorting ourselves into houses and mixing a potion to ensure our readiness for p5.

Only half a day to go tomorrow with Mrs Macleod but I won’t be in so I will take this opportunity to wish everyone a lovely summer holiday and good luck for primary 5!

vendredi le vingt-trois juin

We were thinking about how to stay safe near the roads and thought about how materials can help us to be seen more easily. We made reflection testers and then tested the reflectivity of different materials.

We then used our results to design a school bag which would help to keep us safe from traffic in the dark winter months.

Have a well deserved relaxing weekend P4!

jeudi le vingt-deux juin

We have been very busy this week.

We had a rootin tootin time performing in this year’s show! A huge thank you to everyone for your support, help with costumes and rushing boys from football to school yesterday evening!

Today we have been taking things a little easier. This morning we were looking at words starting with the prefixes a and al. This happened because last night we had the question “Who is already ready? ” and we started thinking about other interesting word combinations. It was a great opportunity to apply our dictionary skills too, to find out what the words meant and because all words started with “a”  we were looking at 2nd, 3rd and 4th letter ordering.

Take a look at the Woodlands blog in the PAG section. If you scroll down to Whose Water, Whose Power?, Mr Green has put photos of our work that is in the “Big Book of Learning” to music – it is really cool!!

We still have several children who have not brought in their show clothes. Please bring them in tomorrow for the Dress Rehearsal.

This morning we were creating and matching array patterns to show the relationships between stations of different times tables.

In ICT we learned how to split cells and insert colour into our block graphs. They are looking really great!

We worked in our groups to decide on the features of different reading/writing genres. We are going to write a story in the genre of our choice and have started to write our initial ideas for settings, cool words and character descriptions. I can’t wait to read the final stories and share them with others.

It was time to let the butterflies go this afternoon. Mrs Bellamy carefully encouraged the butterflies to come out of the net and she let them go!! They flew off to start their lives in the wild – good luck!

Finally, please could we have all show costumes in school tomorrow ready for the Dress Rehearsal on Friday. Thank you.

Friday 9th June 2017

P4 went on a school trip to Calderglen.  We saw the animals in the conservatory and small zoo.   We saw banana  and pineapple plants. We all loved the Fennec Foxes. They were so cute!  We saw snakes, fish and leaf-cutter ants inside and then went outside to see many other birds and animals including harvest mice and doves.  When we had lunch we had to shelter from the rain so our sandwiches didn’t get too soggy! It was a great experience to team up with p3/4 to go on a nature walk. Finally we had great fun on the zip wire, slides and giant rocking rope at the park even though it was raining!  Quite a few people fell asleep on the way home!!

We started to create bar graphs to display our results from our traffic surveys. We were using the insert  and table functions in Word to create the graph template.

This afternoon we were reading over our play scripts ready to start filming.

Have a good day tomorrow and remember to wear suitable clothes and shoes on Friday – the forecast looks like rain!!

********** the final countdown to the school show is on! *************

Please bring in costumes as soon as possible.  It would be great if you could write names on each item of clothing to avoid mix-ups. Please hand in costumes in a poly bag with your child’s name clearly marked on it.
