Today we have been handling data! We realise that we have to translate data to find out information. So, in line with our Road Safety work, we decided to focus on traffic for our first data handling exploration!
We collected information about the types and colours of vehicles which went past on the main road for ten minutes.
Then we created tally charts and bar graphs to show our results.
This afternoon each group finished its Road Safety Playscript and had the chance to practise bringing the script to life! This gives us the opportunity to add more stage directions and think about how each character will say their lines.
We had a great sports day today in beautiful sunny weather. Â Thanks to everyone who came to watch and to all those who took part. Have a fabulous long weekend. Hope the sun keeps shining!
Primary 4 have been busy with some testing today. We have also heard the final presenters from our 4 in a row challenge. Â Well done for all the effort and practise put in.
We had some very boring maths to do today…not!!!  We have been learning about measurement and today we looked at measuring volume.  We investigated how successful we were at bottle flipping a 500ml bottle when it was filled with different volumes  of water.  It was a really fun way to learn about measuring volumes!
Yesterday  we were lucky enough to get a performance from the Greenfaulds High School bands.  They were fabulous!
Today we have been doing some more work on measurement, writing, circle time and song practice. Â We also enjoyed some more of our book presentations. Â The final few will be done tomorrow. Â The p4 pupils were so impressed with some one point perspective art completed by the p7s that they begged to give it a try. Â How could I say no?
This afternoon we started on some perspective drawings and we are hoping to finish and take them home tomorrow to show you how talented we are!
We were developing our skills in hurdling and high jump. Lots of children have been improving their athletic skills which is excellent.
We practised our Show songs and started to think about the actions.
As part of our Road Safety campaign, we are writing short playscripts in groups to present a road safety message. We tried out a read- through of the first scene.
Next week we will finish the playscripts and film each presentation.
This morning we were practising our baseline joins. Following advice about the formation and size of our letters helps us to join correctly.
Did anyone watch the Eurovision Song Contest last Saturday? We used the context to learn the names of some countries- not all of them in Europe!
We then used our knowledge of numbers in French to give countries our points in a pretend competition.
In our groups we used mental maths strategies to find the overall winners from each group.
This afternoon, we started to think about our Road Safety playscripts. We learnt about the different features that we would have to include and set to work in our groups thinking about where Scene 1 would take place.
Today has flown by! Â This morning we concentrated on cloze procedures and measuring area for our language and maths activities. In the afternoon we focused on our friendship project with a circle time and making friendship bracelets for another pupil.
On our Beat the Street walk today we were focusing on places to cross and signs which warn and instruct motorists. There is a pinch point crossing, local crossing with barriers, a bridge, a warning sign , a speed restriction sign and a keep left sign. Can you identify them all?
Have a good weekend and keep on the lookout for any real life road safety signs and crossings!!
These are some lunch items which we realised linked in with our French lesson which was about food! Here we have Petit Filous, a baguette and brioche. If you have any packaging from French foods please send them into school for our display.
This afternoon we were writing stories about road safety to link in with our whole school Road Safety Campaign. We listened and watched a story about Yasmin who couldn’t go on holiday because of her injuries.
The site is called Think! Education and there are other stories to watch which help to make children think about their safety on or near the roads.
I am looking forward to reading the stories, as everyone was determined to achieve at least one of their next steps for writing!
Another busy day in P4. Â This morning we created mind maps to organise the characters, events and settings in our reading books. We were estimating and measuring length during maths with a variety of measuring equipment. Â In the afternoon we started to practise our other school show song, had a look at the recent activity in the bee hive and even had time for circle time in the sun!
