The finished versions of the information about Robert Burns are now on display. We took notes from a PowerPoint presentation and used the notes to create our own summaries of his life and how he is celebrated.
Well done to our Dojo group of the week – Candyfloss! They are the first group to use the colourful new cushions.
In P.E. we were getting better at controlling the ball with a racquet. Now we are learning to hit the ball over the bench. Some of us could control the power and direction so that the person at the other side could hit the ball back.
Today we finished our PowerPoint presentations about our families in French. There were some interesting transitions between slides and lots of the French was correct ( including the accents).
In number we were thinking about adding, subtracting with exchange and recording money when we totalled up how much we had used from the class shop. We also learnt how to exchange across 0 when we subtracted from £5.00 (500 pence). There are lots of numbers on the top line, so we have to be super careful!!
We went over some of our French weather phrases.
We worked with our partners to think of suitable verbs to insert into a passage about the Lion in “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”.
P4 turned into scientists for the afternoon. We sorted materials into liquids, solids and gasses and recorded our ideas in our jotters. Next we investigated which solids would dissolve in water. We had to keep some variables the same so that our test was fair. We only changed one variable: the type of solid we put in the water. The results were very interesting.
Why don’t you try some dissolving experiments at home and record your findings?
In P.E. we were practising number bonds to 10 and 20 making links and getting quicker at recalling facts.t
To help us with control of the racquet, we had to stay in one place- first of all sitting and after that, had to pretend that we were atuck to the spot. Some of us felt that our control improved by trying this technique.
We continue to develop our knowledge of Parts of Speech and how different words are used in sentences. Try making up some sentences of your own, identifying different types of words.
During HWB we explored the Eatwell place and the amount of each food group needed for a balanced diet. We decided we could make a few simple changes like eating an extra piece of fruit a day or drinking water instead of fizzy juice.
Today we started to use our Class Dojo and everyone is very excited to gain points for themselves and their groups.
So far the class has earned 36 points altogether. Well done everyone!!
In French we learned about the galette des Rois, a special cake with charms that French people eat on 6th January. If your slice contains a charm, you can wear a crown for the day. It sounds like a fun activity for Epiphany!
We gained even more points this afternoon and ended the day on 78- yay!!
