We practised using Elkonin boxes as a strategy to help us remember spellings by thinking about the sounds.
This afternoon, we were learning about some of the jobs which Jews are not allowed to do on Shabbat. We compared Shabbat with the Sabbath which some Christians might enjoy and then we thought about ways that we spend our time on Sundays. We learnt that a lot of preparation is neede before Shabbat so that the rules can be followed.
Today, learning has been Halloween themed in preparation for our disco tomorrow. This morning we were learning some French vocabulary for Halloween and look at the aspects we noticed.
Making links between different languages is an important skill.

These are two of our examples.
This morning we used our number fans to demonstrate FANTASTIC mental maths using place value.
This morning we were creating repeating patterns in maths class. We made patterns with shapes, colours, planets, letters, flags, Pokemon and vehicles. Why not make some patterns at home and challenge your family to repeat them?
We also did reading comprehension this morning.
This afternoon we did art activities. We were making Viking weapons. We’ve still got to add the details but they are looking good!
Today we were using our learning about the Viking Runes to write a story using the past tense as if we were a Viking stranded in Maeshowe. To find out more type : Viking maeshowe bbc video clips into your search engine and you will find Viking related clips.
This morning we were using our knowledge of rounding to help us make estimates in calculations.
Remember that it is Eco day tomorrow, so please bring in a spare pair of trousers and make sure that you have gym shoes in school.

The children have brought home their Learning Logs. Please have a look at them and talk to the children about what they have been learning. The Target Jotters need to be back in school next Monday and children will receive a House counter in exchange for their jotter!
Have a great weekend.
This morning in P.E., we were putting our ball skills into practice. We played small football games concentrating on trapping the ball and passing to team members who had moved into space. There were some good examples of intercepting too.
We got the chance to look at items used for Jewish Shabbat. We loved the decoration and enjoyed looking at the Hebrew writing.
This morning we were writing imaginative stories based on being transported by a Time Machine. We had been joking about this at the end of last week and one of our pupils had drawn a picture, so it was a good stimulus for a great story. We started to use our own check list to check our work and make sure we focus on improving each time. I hope that I agree when I mark the stories!
We were looking at estimating and rounding. For children who had not covered this before, they worked with great accuracy.
Ask what the children were learning when they completed this activity.
This afternoon we had a brilliant time when we were developing skills using lots of apparatus in the gym hall!
