Our start to sports week has been very wet! We’ve postponed our Trim Trail Challenge because it was too wet and slippery. Instead we ran the Risky Races.  Some children got very wet this afternoon because they didn’t bring a coat or jacket to school. The weather has to be  the same tomorrow so please bring a jacket or coat tomorrow.

This morning we had PE out in the glorious  sunshine🌞 🌞  🌞 . It was our first tennis lesson and we all aced it! We were just like Andy Murray.

Please remember to bring a water bottle to school next week.

After maths and assembly this morning, we spent the rest of the day learning more about Earth Day.  We looked at ways to restore the earth from its problems of: plastic pollution, deforestation, pollution and climate change.  We also worked collaboratively to create a piece  of artwork and looked into the work of Greta Thunberg.

Today we built on a our area work by learning how to calculate the area of composite shapes.  We all found it fairly straightforward so we are ready to  move onto calculating the area of triangles.

Sounds  as if everyone had a great Easter holiday, even though we were in lockdown.  It was super to see everyone this morning and hear everyone’s news.  I think some children should get an earlier night tonight as a few children were struggling to stay awake in class today.  Just as well, we had PE out in the fresh air this afternoon.

We’ve had a lovely day today with our Easter Activities.  We even had a visit from the Easter Bunny! I hope everyone keeps safe and has a joyful Easter. See you all back safe and sound on Monday 19th April at 9am.

This afternoon we looked at sources  of evidence from  World War 2.  We examined the extracts and photographs and thought about what information they gave us about the war and whether they suggested Britain was winning the war or things were going badly.

Today we all enjoyed our silly haircuts and red clothes as part of Comic Relief.  We were also presented with a certificate for coming 5th in all the classes throughout North Lanarkshire in the recent Sumdog Competition. Mr Green thought we did so well he bought all  our class a treat!  🍫

This afternoon we concluded our learning about the Blitz with an art activity.  We looked at different techniques to create the colours of the sky during the Blitz and also used marbling inks.

Remember tomorrow, for Comic Relief, you can come to school wearing read and or crazy hair.

After our Daily Mile in the Spring sunshine, we split off in to two groups. Half the class were conducting personal research into WW2 and the other half were creating a Blitz style chalk drawing. Tomorrow afternoon, we will swap over our activities.
