Today we were travelling and balancing on the apparatus. There were a lot of people who didn’t bring their PE kit.  Please ensure you have shorts to wear next week, you can’t wear leggings or joggers on the bars.

If you didn’t bring in homework today, please bring it in tomorrow.

This morning we welcomed  parents and grandparents  to our class to share our learning.  We listed all the Scots words we knew at the beginning  of our lesson. By the end of our lesson, we had over a “hunner” Scots words!

Remember to bring your homework jotter and the homework sheet the adult has signed.

Today in our writing lessons we were looking at examples of how famous author “hook” us into read their stories. We then categorised 8 different story openings into opening with a question, a dramatic statement, a description of a character, description of a setting, action, middle of action and dialogue.

This morning we had a special assembly and Chris Duke, the author of Lucy’s Blue Day, came along to tell us all about his book.

Today we read a story about a boy stealing another boy’s conker. We picked out the 5 Top Tips for Developing Characters, highlighted  the VCOP in the text and then wrote what happened next in the story.

This afternoon we were learning about Muslim Beliefs and the Five Pillars of Islam. We worked in groups matching the 2 sentences to each of the Five Pillars of Islam and watched some video clips from The BBC learning about the life of a Muslim.

Don’t forget your PE kit  tomorrow.

This morning each pupil was issued with Homework for Term2 .  Please encourage your child to hand in at least 1 piece of homework every Monday and sign their sheet.  Don’t forget the children should be going onto Sumdog too for the spelling, maths and reading practice.   Thanks for your support.

LITERACY

Starter:

Bob has had his brand new hoverbike for a week now and he’s not happy. It is not what he expected from the advertisement he read. He’s followed the instruction leaflet carefully and it still doesn’t work properly.

Your task is to write a letter or email to The Iconic Transportation Company to complain about their hoverbike.

Now use the template in the above video to write a letter/email of complaint. Make sure your letter is laid out as explained in the video.

MATHS

Starter:

Activity: I can use probability vocabulary to state the chances of an event happening.

Plenary:

On Sumdog both P6 and P6/7 are in a probability competition, which begins at 9am, and finishes at 7pm. Spend at least 15 minutes on this competition and see if you can make it on to the top 10 leader board! There will be 200 coins awarded for anyone in the top 10.

This morning we were learning how to develop characters by describing what they say, how they say it and also show how the characters are behaving rather than telling.

Term 2 homework will be issued this Monday. Those children who receive music tuition from Mr McCrae need to bring their instruments on Monday.

We’ve been looking at stories that have helped to shape Christians’ beliefs.  We watched the story of the Prodigal Son and looked critically at Rembrandt’s painting of the Prodigal Son.  Some of us chose to recreate Rembrandt’s version and others decided to create their own interpretation of the Prodigal Son.
