Dyson Foundation Engineers
Today we reassembled our class Dyson (it almost fits back together!)
We then disassembled a carbon fibre turbine head. It was very tricky and needed lots of patience and resilience to take it apart and correctly reassemble it.
We then compared both Dysons to see what one we preferred.
Funday Friday
This morning we had a Teams meet up with a High school teacher Ms Kilpatrick. We learned some Gaelic. We had a group that finished first in the Kahoot quiz too!
We then worked on using our multiplication skills to help us solve division problems.
Next we created comic strips linked to our reading book.
We finished with outdoor PE. We worked on cooperation and teamwork.
Tuesday 23rd March
Today P6/7 worked on improving their writing and continued to develop their short multiplication skills. Children were able to star if they preferred the compact or extended method.
Monday 22nd March
Today P6/7 started a new story, developed their handwriting and learned a new spelling rule. We started to work on short multiplication – learning two ways to find answers.
Red Nose Day
Primary 6/7 learned about the work done through Red Nose Day. We looked at the different people and the places around the world who benefit from the money raised.
They boys and girls used their creative sides to design masks and noses then added their nose character to a comic strip.
In the afternoon we enjoyed some outdoor PE. We played ball games that involved communication and cooperation.
Terrific Tuesday
Today we worked on our writing. We engaged in a vocabulary task and used the connectives or and however correctly. We then up levelled sentences to include more detail and description. Â We then read our book before answering questions linked to the text.
We continued our work from yesterday Linking our knowledge of multiplication to work out division facts. We are developing our accuracy/speed and recall.
In the afternoon we really got into our Dyson Foundation task. Our job was to strip down a Dyson Vacuum cleaner. This let us see design features, the electronics and inner workings as well as giving us experience with using different types of screw drivers.
Back to school
Today was a fantastic day – with everyone catching up and getting back into the rhythm of a school day. We started the day with literacy. Focusing on reading, handwriting and spelling.
After break we worked on our skills with linking division to our knowledge of multiplication. We worked with Mr Green, tested our multiplication skills on the laptops and our other maths skills on Sumdog. We finished off in the afternoon with a daily mile and looked at the different jobs engineers do as part of our new project linked to the James Dyson Foundation.
