Tuesday 31st March

Literacy

Spelling – write a short story using as many of this week’s words as you can.

Languages – look up the weather in another country and write a sentence to describe it using another language.

Main task

Yesterday you took notes about two books including the language, characters, main events and setting.

Evaluate the two texts – remember evaluate contains the word VALUE which means saying if the texts are good/bad and why. Compare the two books e.g. compare the two characters or the language used.

Maths

Warm up task = countdown – try and make the target number using the numbers below. You can add, subtract, multiply and divide. You can only use each number once.

Target = 50

Level 1 = 10              2              4              8              6

Level 2 = 100           200         30            10

Level 3 = 3               3              3              10             8

Main task

I can solve word problems involving time.

Word problem of the day

I want to cook a roast chicken. The chicken takes 75 minutes. I want to eat at 15:00 and I want to leave the chicken to rest for 20 minutes before I eat. What time do I need to put the chicken in the oven at?

(top tip – draw out a time line and work backwards)

EC = the potatoes take 25 minutes less than the chicken to cook, but I want them to be ready exactly when I want to eat. What time do I need to put the potatoes in at?
