Energy saving campaign

Last week the Eco committee finalised our plans to run an energy saving campaign through out the school. We have created a checklist for each class to follow at playtime, lunchtime and at the end of school everyday.

This includes, turning off lights, ipads, projectors and computers when they are not in use. We also identified that using excess water wastes electricity because the water has to be pumped around the school.

Article 24 – we have the right to a clean and safe environment.

The eco committee representatives are going to be the Energy monitors for each class to help reduce the amount of energy we use and help save the environment.

The winner of the “energy saving mascot” campaign will be announced next week at assembly, so check back to see who it was!

First eco committee of the year!

Today was our first eco meeting of the year.

We introduced ourselves,, planned a Whole school eco day and planned our first eco focus for the school. We are going to focus on conservation of energy and reducing how much energy we waste within the school.

We also surveyed the school to plan which areas need tidied up, got an update on the progress of the trees and measured the greenhouse so that we could get a quote for plastic.

All classes in the school are now going to perform an energy survey and we are going to plan how to reduce energy waste within the school!
