Position & Movement

We have been learning about positional language and how we can use clear instructions to help us move from one place to another.  We worked with a partner to use directional and positional language to instruct each other how to successfully reach another point of the playground.  We had to carry out quarter turns, half turns, full turns, take forward steps and side steps.  Our instructions had to be very clear as to which direction we had to take.  We used language like clockwise, anti-clockwise, forward, back, to the side and stop.

It was a lot of fun!

Fraction Pancakes

We used butter and jam to create fractions on pancakes.

We used only halves and quarters.

I enjoyed making these pancakes because it helped me understand using halves and quarters.  Sophia

I liked when we spread the jam and butter and cut the pancakes into halves and quarters.  Karly

I really enjoyed planning what I would create on my pancake.  Sian D

And the best bit was…we got to eat them when the lesson was finished!

YUUUMMMMMMYYYY!!!!

Division

To help us understand division strategies a bit better we used sweets and used the Sharing and Grouping strategies.

Darcie – We learned how to group and share

Mia – We were able to share equally between our group

Holli – We helped each other when sharing and grouping the sweets

Naima – We learned how to divide by using sweets instead of numbers

Rachel – My group did lots of sums together
