Today we were talking about Primary and Secondary Sources and Historical evidence. We know that a Primary Source is a piece of information or artefact from the time it happened. We know a Secondary Source usually uses a Primary Source first of all. It is a source that has happened after the event or written or made about an event.
We decided Primary Sources were the most reliable.
It was finally our turn to put our bird feeders out in our nature garden and playground area. We hope it helps to feed some of the hungry birds who are making lots of noise outside the school.
Miss Iafrate has been handing out Golden Tickets when people show extra effort and respect. If you get a Golden Ticket you can take part in something fun.
We researched Willy Wonka’s fabulous inventions and discussed inventions we couldn’t live without.
Then we created our own inventions using our own ideas of how to make life easier.
As we learned all about our senses in term 3, our holiday homework was to create a musical instrument from recycled materials. It had to make a sound. Mrs Wightman was very impressed with our creations, and every one of them make a noise.
We have been learning about positional language and how we can use clear instructions to help us move from one place to another. We worked with a partner to use directional and positional language to instruct each other how to successfully reach another point of the playground. We had to carry out quarter turns, half turns, full turns, take forward steps and side steps. Our instructions had to be very clear as to which direction we had to take. We used language like clockwise, anti-clockwise, forward, back, to the side and stop.
Today we planted rhubarb. We will nurture it and watch it grow then in a couple of weeks should be able to eat it.
We checked on our onions and leeks.
An experiment we did showed the onions we grew in class had very small roots but long stalks, where the ones we grew outside have very small tips but huge long roots. This helped us to see the difference sunlight makes when growing onions.
