Mrs Wightman challenged us to show her we are Math Magicians by answering as many division questions as we could in one minute.

Yesterday the winner was Callum W and today it was Kayleigh!  Well done to you both!

Our runners up were Aiden S (by only one second!!!!), Kyran, Sarah and Hannah.

We all tried really hard and proved how much we have learned to do with our times tables.  Mrs Wightman is very proud!

It was fun doing the maths challenges but quite hard too.  Hannah

I got beaten by one second and was really annoyed!  Aiden

I’m really proud of myself that I came first!  Kayleigh

I was the first to do the challenge and I was proud that I managed a harder one.  Declan

It was really fun but I was annoyed I only answered ten questions right.  Kai

I was beaten by Aiden with one point.  Kyran

I was second at first then was knocked off by Aiden.  Emma Louise

I challenged myself by doing the nine times table.  Emma

I didn’t think I would beat Aiden but then I did by one second.  Callum W

I did the five times table and although I know it I still found it hard.  Tegan

Dig In Day

Primary 4 have taken on the responsibility of the school Nature Garden, along with Primary 5.  So far we have been out in the garden and come up with ideas of what we would like to see there.  We are very lucky to have such an area in our school and are able to use it to help with our learning.  We met with a Countryside Ranger from Drumpellier Country Park and Pallacerigg Country Park to help us enhance what we already have.  We know exactly what we want to achieve and Colin is the man to help us with this!   helpwant[1]

The Dig In Day tomorrow will help us to get started on the plans we have made.  We can’t wait to get started.  If you can help in anyway we will be in the school grounds from  11 a.m. – 2 p.m.  We would really appreciate any help you can provide, and any time you could spend with us would be wonderful!  Colin will be there with another Ranger and he will bring tools and resources we can use to cut back some trees, create clearer pathways, and clear the full garden to create specific areas.  We will even be making bird boxes and unveiling the new name and sign of the garden.  It’s an opportunity not to be missed!

We hope to see you all there!

Remember kids, you need to come with an adult.

‘Annie’ Rehearsals

We have been working hard with the cast and P5 to perfect our singing and dancing for the upcoming school show.

“It has been exciting learning all the dances and P4 don’t need their words any more.”  Faith

“I feel proud that I don’t need my words anymore.”  Emma

“We had so much fun at the rehearsal today!  We are sounding great already!” Ellie

“We will still have to rehearse more so that we get even better.” Ebony

“We are nearly there but still need to practise.” Tegan

“I think the show is going to plan.” Declan

“I like that the Waste Warrior song is in the show because P4 made it.”  Hannah

It’s A Hard Life! :)

It’s tough being in Primary 4B when you get treats and D.V.D.’s as a way to end the week!

FullSizeRenderUnfortunately it is Miss McCafferty’s last day with us today and she wanted to reward us for our hard work with a treat.  We really appreciate all of the fun opportunities you have given us during your time here.

Thank You! We will miss you!

We have been learning all about trees and how they help humans and animals breathe.  Kai

I have learned how trees spread seeds to allow other trees to grow.  Declan

We had homework aksing us to explore the street to find leaves and match them on our Leaf Bingo.  It was good!  Jay

If a tree is living and you want to find the age of it you can use an increment borer to tell it’s age.  Kayleigh

I know the life cycle of a tree.  Emma

Today we were talking about how seeds spread in wind and water or animals can carry them on their fur, then when they land a new tree will grow.  Faith

If a tree is not living, you can tell how old it is by counting the rings inside the trunk.  Taylor

Division

We have been learning about Division this week.

“I think that if you don’t know your tables you will not be able to divide.”  Aiden

“This is because division is the opposite of multiplication.” Emma Louise

“I learned about grouping when working out division sums.”  Eva

“We learned how to share in division by giving each person one sweet at a time until they were all finished.” Tegan

As a treat for all our hard work throughout the week, Mrs Wightman let us investigate and explore ways of dividing using sweets.

Here we are dividing sweets by ‘sharing’.

Here we are dividing sweets by ‘grouping’.

Can you believe we all had to answer questions about division before Mrs Wightman would let us eat our sweets?

Luckily we all got our questions correct!! 😀

*NEWSFLASH*

Title.newsflash2Primary 4B have only just finished celebrating our fourth win of Me Time Class of the week, and we now need to think about how we will celebrate winning it for a fifth time!!

Primary 4B have achieved the most Me Time tickets five times and in doing so, will be rewarded with A Big Day Out.

We are thrilled to be the first class to win this reward and look forward to planning it for nearer the end of the school year, when we hopefully have better weather.
