Welcome to P4, August 2017!
A big welcome to all of the children and their parents to our P4 blog. Here you can find information about the children and what they’ve been learning as well as helpful information about timetables.
PE will be on Mondays and Thursdays so please bring an indoor kit on Monday and outdoor for Thursday.
Enya enjoyed learning about place value in Maths. Jamie loved hearing about the class novel The Best Dog in the World. Euan liked learning about climates.
Lewis liked learning how to control the ball in hockey. Charlotte liked talking about feelings and designing an emojii.
Spectacular Sports Day for Whitelees
The children have come fully prepared to join in despite the rain first thing!
“I enjoyed Just Dance because it makes me fitter, “Callum said.
Ryan liked, “How we read maps and then had to make funny faces.”
“Football was fun and I liked shooting!” added Logan.
Well done to all of the children in P4. They participated well in every activity and cheered each other on too. Sports day was a huge success and it encouraged the children to see so many adults attend the afternoon to support them. Thank you to mums, dads and friends.
It’s Good To Be Me!
P4 children have won the Me Time award and have voted to have a movie afternoon on Thursday 22/6/17. Bring in PJs or shorts and t-shirts to dress up for the movie. Come to school in uniform in the morning.
Budding Artists in P4
The children behaved fabulously on their school trip to the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh yesterday. They listened carefully and participated well. The children walked around the gallery and had two workshops where they used a great variety of techniques to observe each other and draw portraits.
In preparation for the trip the children researched famous artists and have been presenting what they’ve learned to each other.
Well done children!
Short and Show Rehearsal Week
We’ve been so busy preparing for the school show which we hope that you love. We have practised lots and done some beautiful art work too.
Roni said she enjoyed rehearsing for the school show and Logan said he feels excited. Mya smiled and said she liked painting the castle we’ve done for the hall.
Tennis
Has helped me get fit and I played with a partner, Callum mentioned.
Louie said when I got better I moved on to rallies with Luca.
Shanna added we tried really hard but some balls went out of control.
Busy, fit and healthy
Dramatic Monday
On Monday we did drama with Mr Campbell when we chose partners and made faces to show our emotions. We showed one emotion on our faces but the others were shown through body language.
P4 Beat the Street and Terrific Tennis
With the good weather and brighter days the children are getting fitter and improving their ball skills.
Please join us in supporting team Whitelees and signing up for Beat the Street, a fun way of keeping fit.
Healthy Kitchen Skills
The children focussed on cutting techniques using a bridge and a claw. They washed and cut the fruit before using their imaginations and making fruity faces.
Check out our 5 winners who created colourful posters promoting fruit and healthy eating.
POLO Day Success
The children had a fantastic day learning outdoors. They carried out scavenger hunts for Maths and created wonderful mud and leaf art. For PE they played football, did a boot camp and completed an obstacle course. They also problem solved and worked together to do the hoop challenge.
In Nature’s Nest they discussed emotional health and did relaxation exercises before going on another scavenger hunt to find materials for their own mini gardens. After that they made imaginative little gardens in boxes. The children then explained what their garden was about and asked each other about theirs. Well done to P4 for participating so enthusiastically.
We loved being outside the whole day and learning in that environment.
