P2/3 had an absolute ball participating in their Dino Day today. Children used their measuring skills to measure bones and identify which dinosaurs they belonged to. They used their knowledge of adjectives to describe dinosaurs that they cold see and wrote fantastic senses poems. Throughout the day they had some very scary and close encounters with dinosaurs too!

P2/3 are working on a top secret book just now. We are redrafting our first chapter today and making a fantastic job of our work.

Today P2/3 went back in time to a Victorian classroom, with a Victorian teacher ! They lined up this morning like any other day until the bell went and the teacher appeared, cloak and cane ! Children came into class and learned about Queen Victoria, took part in Victorian writing lessons using slates and copybooks and practised the cursive alphabet.

After lunch they took part in a Drill and learned about arithmetic, Geography and History, reciting the dates of Kings and Queen from the tudor period to the present Queen, Victoria. Throughout the day children experienced Victorian punishments,  for asking a question or even speaking without permission.  Look at what the children had to say about their experience.

This afternoon P2/3 continued their outdoor learning experience. They returned to the nature garden to complete their own senses poem. They thought about what they could see, smell, touch, taste and hear.

Afterwards they showed of their bikeability skills.  They showed awareness of safety, and completed an obstacle course.

P2/3 came ready today to Power Off and Learn Outdoors (P.O.L.O). All children thourghly enjoyed the day and has a great experience using their natural environment to learn.  The children started off hunting the nature garden to find natural resources that they could use to decorate and Easter egg.

They then designed their own Woodland Potion labels. These labels told us the name of the potion and the ingredients in it. After they had designed these and attached them to their bottles it was time to hunt the playground for their ingredients. This was not as easy as they thought. Many found their ingredients too big to fit in their botttles and had to figure out how to make them fit. The potions all looked fantastic when completed.

Well done P2/3, you showed what it looked like to really Power Off and Learn Outdoors! You should all be very proud of yourselves!

Today was our last day of Narrative writing this term. We watched a video called Bubbles as our writing stimulus.  Read our fantastic Bubbles stories and see where our bubbles take us.

Not really, Mr Young is still his normal self.  We have been learning all about Narrative Writing. This means it is a made up story. We really enjoyed writing about the day our teacher turned into a frog.  Have a look at our fantastic work.

As part of our Scottish Food topic we had a tasting session in class. We tried a range of Scottish foods. We all got small samples of salmon, oatcakes, Irn Bru, porridge, shortbread, square sausage, and some of us even tried real haggis, others had vegetable haggis. As part of our Scottish Food and Drink topic we created collages of a very famous Scottish drink. We tore orange and blue paper and stuck it down to create our own cans of IRN BRU! Have a look at us hard at work

This morning we put on our jackets, hats and gloves and went outside. We were outside using our senses to see what we could , hear , taste, feel , smell and see. We touched the snow covered grass, picked up icy cold leaves, listened to the snow crunch under our feet and watch the sun begin to rise behind the trees. We used these experiences in class to help us write our senses poem.  Here are some of the things we wrote
