Lessons from Auschwitz 2022

If you are currently in S6 and interested in participating in this years Lessons from Auschwitz Project run by the Holocaust Educational Trust (HET), please come to a brief lunchtime meeting in room 180 (Miss Stoutjesdyk’s room) in the Social Subjects Department at 12.45pm on Wednesday 7th September. You can bring your lunch.
You do not need to be currently studying a Social Subject to apply.
There are two places available, so if more than two pupils apply you will have to complete a written task that the Social Subjects Faculty will review.

Project Details

Orientation Seminar – Usually in Glasgow City Centre and you’d go to this independently, making your own travel arrangements
Sunday 13th November 2022
11.00am-1.30pm

One-day Visit to Poland – please note that you may have to travel to this without a THS teacher and make your own way to and from the airport and you’d have to provide your own spending money.
Wednesday 16th November 2022
Edinburgh Airport

Follow-up Seminar – same as orientation seminar above
Tuesday 22nd November 2022
3.00pm-5.30pm

Next Steps Deadline – This is where you share your experience with others. Historically pupils have held an assembly and given a PowerPoint presentation to S4 Historians around Holocaust Memorial Day in January.

As this is an event run by the HET and not the school, please speak to your parents/guardians before you submit your name and make them aware that THS staff may not been in attendance at these events including the day trip to Poland. The majority of costs are covered by THS and the HET, but there will be some personal costs involved too.
