Competing against 13 bands on the night, the group impressed both the judges and the audience with a confident and dynamic performance.<\/div>\n<div data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">On the morning of the competition, Mrs Muir, Head of Expressive Arts, encouraged the band to perform with confidence, reminding them that their talent charisma should be something other bands admired. Her message was simple and powerful: trust your ability, take the stage with belief, and let the music speak for itself.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Their set featured a powerful rendition of the classic rock anthem\u00a0<i>\u201cBorn to Be Wild\u201d<\/i>, followed by an original composition titled\u00a0<i>\u201cVena Cava.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0The combination of a well-known rock classic and their own creative work showcased the band\u2019s versatility and musical maturity, helping secure them the top position in the competition.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">This victory marks a remarkable progression from last year\u2019s competition. In 2025, the group were the youngest performers taking part\u00a0and achieved an impressive third place. On that occasion, they performed\u00a0<i>\u201cOne Way or Another\u201d<\/i>\u00a0by Blondie along with their own original song,\u00a0<i>\u201cMeridian.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0Their continued growth over the past year has clearly paid off, culminating in this year\u2019s well\u2011deserved first place.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The Taylor High School Rock Band is made up of a talented group of S5 pupils, each contributing their unique musical strengths to the ensemble:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><strong>Thomas Reily \u2013 Lead Vocals<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Max Allison \u2013 Drum Kit<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Lucy White \u2013 Guitar<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Adam Formosa \u2013 Bass Guitar<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Ava Bradley \u2013 Guitar<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><strong>Eve Porteous \u2013 Keyboards and Backing Vocals<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Our\u00a0<span class=\"markacbvmmrec uM2yb\" data-markjs=\"true\">congratulations<\/span>\u00a0also go to Brannock High School, who were awarded second place, and Dalziel High School, who placed third. The Individual Performer Award\u00a0was presented to a student from St Maurice\u2019s High School.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">As part of their success, the Taylor High School Music Department\u00a0has received a \u00a3300 prize, which the band will use to select equipment from Haydock Music in Glasgow.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Mrs Muir said:\u00a0<i>\u201cWe are incredibly proud of the band and the dedication they have shown throughout the year. Their commitment to rehearsals, their creativity in writing original music, and their confidence on stage were outstanding. Winning this competition is a fantastic achievement for them and very well deserved.\u201d<\/i><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Taylor High School extends its warmest\u00a0<span class=\"markacbvmmrec uM2yb\" data-markjs=\"true\">congratulations<\/span> to Silvrtone\u00a0for this fantastic accomplishment.
