{"id":85,"date":"2015-06-19T09:34:53","date_gmt":"2015-06-19T09:34:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/anntest3\/?page_id=85"},"modified":"2019-04-23T11:18:55","modified_gmt":"2019-04-23T11:18:55","slug":"school-dinners","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/sttimothysprimary\/school-dinners\/","title":{"rendered":"School Meals"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 align=\"center\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;text-decoration: underline\">School Meals<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Meals are provided each day at lunchtime in the dining room.\u00a0 Each morning at between 9.00 a.m. &#8211; 9.30 a.m. the school support staff take note of the requirements of each class.<\/p>\n<p>A new &#8220;lunch ordering system&#8221; started in November 2015. Children now order their choice for lunch and are issued with a coloured band that coincides with their choice. They can choose from two hot meals (one vegetarian), Baked Potato or a Snack to go (sandwich, drink and snack). This allows the kitchen to prepare enough food enabling\u00a0 all children to receive their choice of meal.<\/p>\n<p>From Monday 15 April 2019 \u2013<br \/>\nThe Primary Meal Price will increase from \u00a32.00 to <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u00a32.10<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 The drinks included in the meal price are water, milk and juice.<br \/>\n\u00b7 The Snack 2 Go has a new sandwich filling on a <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Tuesday<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Friday<\/span>. On these days <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">a ham sandwich will not be offered<\/span>. If children do arrive late and miss the dinner numbers being taken please go to the kitchen to give their choice there, where they will be added.<\/p>\n<p>The school kitchen now operates on a \u201cCashless\u201d system. Each child is provided with a card onto which they load money via machines in the dining hall. Cards are used to purchase breakfast, snack and lunch. Money can be loaded \u00a0each day or a larger amount can be loaded which will last the child for a week or more. Children in receipt of free meals have the cost of lunch automatically loaded onto their card each day. If it is not used (e.g. child is not at school or child does not go for school lunch) it is removed from the card that day. If children who receive free dinners wish to buy breakfast or snack they must load money onto their card.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>NB &#8211; From January 2015 all Pr 1 &#8211; 3 children are entitled to a free school meal.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Snacks and drinks can also be bought in the dining room at lunchtime.<\/p>\n<p>Children who require a special diet should have this fact made known to the cook supervisor together with relevant details, in order that proper care can be taken in food preparation.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The availability of special diets<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Diets required as a result of a medical condition (a medically prescribed diet e.g.\u00a0\u00a0 coelic disease, diabetes, food allergy or intolerance) can be provided in school.\u00a0\u00a0 A <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">medically prescribed diet form <\/span>must be completed by the child\u2019s Registered Dietician or General Practitioner.\u00a0 Procedures and forms can be accessed from the child\u2019s school or dietician, or from North Lanarkshire\u2019s catering service.\u00a0 Occasionally, parents\/carers may be asked to supply prescription foods or attend a meeting to discuss the child\u2019s dietary requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Some children with additional support needs may require food to be adapted to an appropriate texture and consistency.\u00a0 In this instance the child\u2019s Registered Dietician or Speech and Language Therapist will liaise with the Head Teacher and school catering service to ensure appropriate food provision.<\/p>\n<p>Special diets required for ethical, religious or cultural reasons should be requested in writing to the Head Teacher, who will liaise with the school catering service.<\/p>\n<p>Only primary school children who receive a free school meal are entitled to free milk.\u00a0 Milk however may be available for purchase in the school during the lunch period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>School Meals Meals are provided each day at lunchtime in the dining room.\u00a0 Each morning at between 9.00 a.m. &#8211; 9.30 a.m. the school support staff take note of the requirements of each class.
