At St. Stephen’s we follow the Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) approach to teaching mathematics. This method allows children to devise strategies which work best for them to solve problems and improve their understanding of number.<\/p>\n

We are so good at using CGI that we won the Raising Attainment in Numeracy Award at the Scottish Education Awards in 2019!<\/p>\n

Mathematics includes specific aspects of numeracy which will be developed both in mathematics and through activities in other areas of the curriculum.<\/p>\n
