It has been lovely to message some of you on Teams, if you haven\u2019t logged in yet, why not make that your first task for today and get an adult to help you. I will be on Teams throughout the day and so I perhaps might message you back instantly!<\/p>\n
There are a selection of tasks to choose from this week for both numeracy and literacy but remember you can also use Sumdog, Studyladder, Teach your Monster to Read and Expresso. I know how much you are enjoying the\u00a0P4 BBC Bitesize lessons<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0P5 BBC Bitesize lessons<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>so for those of you who haven\u2019t tried them yet, why not choose a bitesize lesson today?<\/p>\n Don\u2019t forget to watch\u00a0Newsround<\/a> <\/strong>and then try one of the tasks<\/a>\u00a0and then post it on Teams.<\/p>\n Last week, I asked you to review books you have been reading and upload your reviews to Teams. This week, why not\u00a0review a film<\/a>\u00a0you have watched?<\/p>\n For our topic<\/strong>, I want to continue looking at the world around us, so far we have been looking at birds and insects. This week, I want to focus on plants. Have a look at the powerpoint \u2013\u00a0The lifecycle of a flowering plant<\/a>\u00a0and then complete the following activity \u2013 Flowering Plant Life Cycle<\/a>. Don\u2019t forget<\/strong> to take pictures of plants you see on walks or in your gardens and post them on Teams. You can also download this week\u2019s mindful colouring task \u2013 Plants and Growth<\/a>.<\/p>\n Continue to take time for Quiet Prayer and although the Angelus challenge has ended, it is something we would do all year in class, so try at 12pm to stop whatever you are doing and pray the Angelus. Why not try saying morning prayer and grace before and after meals as well.<\/p>\n Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n I want you to choose a new book from the Oxford Owl<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>website, remember the username and password is: stpatsprimaryp4\/5<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Your first task<\/strong> is this worksheet \u2013\u00a0Before Reading activity<\/a>. \u00a0I want you to use the\u00a0Reading Mission<\/a>\u00a0guide to help you as you read through the story. Your second task<\/strong> is the Character Grid activity<\/a>, when you have completed this, why not choose your favourite character so far and draw a picture of them and label it as we would in class. Your favourite character may change as you read through the story, you can add to your picture\/character description as you read on.\u00a0Your third task<\/strong> is to complete the\u00a0Timeline activity<\/a>\u00a0for your novel and finally the Story Mapping<\/a>\u00a0worksheet.<\/p>\n The Reading Mission<\/a>\u00a0guide also gives you some extra tasks to try or you could try the Story Alphabet activity<\/a>.<\/p>\n Other tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\n As a writing task this week, I want you to\u00a0keep a diary<\/a>\u00a0for a week.<\/p>\n We had started to focus on a word of the day in class, why not continue this at home, use a dictionary if you have one or an online dictionary to help you \u2013 Word of the Day activity<\/a>.<\/p>\n Here are some additional tasks to choose from:<\/p>\n Numeracy<\/strong><\/p>\n This week, I want to focus on addition, subtraction and multiplication. The competition continues on Sumdog but<\/strong> I am going to mix it up, so some days it will focus on times tables and other days addition or subtraction!<\/p>\n The multiplication<\/strong><\/em> tasks you can\u00a0choose from are listed below.\u00a0I want you to use the Times Tables Videos<\/a>\u00a0to practise and then try\u00a0activity 1<\/a>\u00a0and then\u00a0activity 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n I want you to focus on the\u00a08x table question booklet<\/a>. However, I have also attached some other worksheets \u2013\u00a02x activity <\/a>, 3x activity<\/a>\u00a0, 4x activity<\/a>, 5x activity<\/a>, 6x activity<\/a>,\u00a07x activity<\/a>,\u00a08x activity<\/a>\u00a0and 9x activity<\/a>.
