It may include:<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>adapting the curriculum, the provision of equipment or resources to assist with learning<\/li>\n<li>additional adult support<\/li>\n<li>intervention from a specialist such as allied health professionals or social work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you think your child requires support, please contact the headteacher, who will arrange to review your child\u2019s progress at school and discuss the next steps with you.<\/p>\n<p>Children may need additional support for a variety of timescales and\u00a0reasons including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a physical disability<\/li>\n<li>looked after children<\/li>\n<li>social or emotional difficulties<\/li>\n<li>problems at home<\/li>\n<li>challenging behaviour<\/li>\n<li>a sensory impairment or communication impairment<\/li>\n<li>being a young carer or parent<\/li>\n<li>having English as a second language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Following a multi-agency discussion, (including conversations with lead professionals such as educational psychologists, social workers, health and education teams), a referral may be made to access additional support services.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004\u00a0sets out what the education authority must\u00a0do in order to meet the needs of children who require additional support.
