Welcome to St. Michael\u2019s School Handbook. It is our hope that you will find it informative and useful and that it will offer you an insight into our school life.<\/div>\n

Built in the 1960s, St Michael\u2019s is a single story, traditional, prefabricated building built in the late 1960s. It has 11 classrooms, a\u00a0nursery, a large gym and dining hall, a project hall\/ICT suite and\u00a0nurture\/community room. It is set within expansive grounds which have been utilised to include a football park, basketball court, assault course, eco garden, outdoor classroom, orchard and separate playgrounds for infants, juniors and seniors. Included in the
\ngrassy area is a forest which is utilised as a Forest Kindergarten and School. The school embraces outdoor learning and each class has a door leading directly to outdoor facilities.<\/div>\n

The school\u2019s previous Education Report was published in May 2012 and the most recent Care Commission Report in Nov 2019. Both deemed the school to be achieving very good and excellent standards in meeting the needs of our pupils.<\/div>\n

\"StWe endeavour to promote our Catholic school in a multicultural community and welcome and respect children from all faiths. The school holds high standing in the community and has sought to build long term, productive links with both the Parish Priest and the neighbouring Church of Scotland. This can be evidenced through the support given to families by involvement with professionals from other agencies, the local community, and other voluntary
\ngroups.<\/div>\n

The school holds high standing in the community and has sought to promote long term productive links. This is evident from the support given to families by involvement with other agencies, particularly Barnardo\u2019s, which continues to be a very positive factor in parental
\nengagement. We have developed strong business links in the area with The Coffee House and The Cooperative Store which provides Developing the Young Workforce opportunities for our learners. Outdoor Learning has a strong emphasis in the life of our pupils, offering opportunities in STEM, Laudato Si and Health and Wellbeing.\u00a0 Data has shown the strong influence on outdoor learning has had a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our pupils.\"6,300+<\/div>\n

We pride ourselves in our commitment to the wider life of the school, with pupils benefitting from involvement Reading Ambassadors, Digital Leaders, Eco Schools, Fairtrade, After School Clubs, a variety of educational and sporting excursions and a partnership with Strathclyde University.<\/div>\n
