S3 Industrial Cadets Challenger Award

            S3 took part in a full morning of STEM Activities hosted by EDT Scotland.  The day, funded by the European Space Agency, began with discussions based around the perfect parachute that would be needed for a Mars Rover to land safely.  Pupils then worked in groups to design and create their own parachute with a variety of shapes, materials and sizes taken into consideration.

Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Winners

    2J took part in the Salter’s Chemistry Festival Challenge which was based on the Science of the Caramel Wafer. The pupils tried experiments looking at what makes the perfect caramel wafer such as the bubbles in the biscuit, the strength of the biscuit and the thickness. STEM Cluster Event for Staff

Our cluster primaries alongside our Science department took part in a joint STEM activities session delivered by Dr Kirsty Ross from Optima.  The event allowed the staff to become more familiar with light experiments and use practical activities to engage pupils in learning and enthusiasm within Science.

Senior Careers Event

Senior pupils took part in a day dedicated to careers.  The ‘Rock Assembly’ event was hosted online by Talent Foundry who provided us with speakers from various industries.  Pupils were able to learn about careers within the NHS, financial sector, science and apprenticeships. Throughout the day there were a few interactive sessions were pupils were able to take part in activities such as learning how to code their own game
