{"id":152,"date":"2015-06-19T09:45:09","date_gmt":"2015-06-19T09:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/anntest3\/?page_id=152"},"modified":"2025-01-20T12:04:36","modified_gmt":"2025-01-20T12:04:36","slug":"parent-council-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stlucys\/parent-council-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Home and School Links"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Home and School Links<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The school functions more effectively when there is full parental co-operation and partnership between school and home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Parents are most welcome in the school to discuss any problems or to discuss their child&#8217;s progress.\u00a0 They may call at the school or telephone to make an appointment to see the Head Teacher.\u00a0 If parents wish to see and speak to the class teacher, they should first contact school office staff or the head teacher or depute head teacher to arrange an appointment.<\/p>\n<p>The school delivers workshops when parents are invited to the school to learn how we teach various aspects of the curriculum, e.g., Reading, Mathematics, Science, etc.<\/p>\n<p>All information about these and other school activities is conveyed to parents\/carers through our digital communication channels or in the monthly newsletter.\u00a0 If a note is of some special significance, it may be included in the Church Bulletin.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage parental involvement in children\u2019s learning and the life of the school by providing a raft of opportunities including:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Induction Afternoon<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Meet the Teacher\u2019 session (held at the beginning of the academic year)<\/li>\n<li>Open Day<\/li>\n<li>Parental Workshops<\/li>\n<li>Parent Helpers<\/li>\n<li>GIRF Me Plan\/CSP consultations<\/li>\n<li>Parents\u2019 evenings (Mainstream\/LCSC- Oct\/March) (Nursery-March)<\/li>\n<li>Written reports (Mainstream- Dec\/June) (Nursery &amp; LCSC- June)<\/li>\n<li>Profile Meetings \u2013 LCSC<\/li>\n<li>Personal Learning Plan review meetings (Nursery) &#8211; Termly<\/li>\n<li>The work of Parent Council<\/li>\n<li>Supporting school endeavours in Eco, Health etc.<\/li>\n<li>Consultation Exercises<\/li>\n<li>Nursery \u2018Stay and Play\u2019 sessions (termly)<\/li>\n<li>Nursery Shopping Trips (monthly)<\/li>\n<li>Nursery Library Visits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the school year, there are several presentations to parents on the subject of preparation for First Communion and Confirmation, these are delivered by the parish.\u00a0 These talks are followed up by special services in which parents and school are equally involved.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Each year, the co-operation and support of home and school means that we are able to donate substantial sums of money to charities, provide visiting theatre groups and fund educational outings for pupils.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We have an active Parent Council within St. Lucy\u2019s.
